Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) is the only dedicated children’s hospital in the South West. St Michael’s Hospital is a specialist centre for high-risk pregnancies and fetal medicine. Poorly babies and children are referred to these regional specialist centres from across the South West, and even nationally.          

For one child to stay in the BRHC for one day costs £1,093. Your continued support helps to make sure that children treated in our hospitals have access to the best patient care.

We still need your support 

To continue to provide the best possible care for our children we need your support. Our hospitals currently need:

• Creation of a calm space in the children’s outpatients department in the BRHC, including a sensory area, to help those with complex needs like autism, to cope better with their hospital experience.  
• 3D and 4D ultrasound scanning equipment to enable our Fetal Medicine Unit consultants at St Michael’s Hospital to carry out high precision procedures such as fetal blood transfusions, saving the lives of the unborn babies.
• Refurbishing individual rooms and bays on the general paediatric ward, which treats babies up to 12 year old children. Some children can stay there for up to a year, so providing a stimulating, comfortable and calm environment is essential to their recovery.

Our children’s anthology ‘Don’t Be Scared’ was launched to raise funds for the BRHC. It features authors and illustrators including Jacqueline Wilson, Roald Dahl, Michael Morpurgo, Geraldine McCaughrean, Quentin Blake and more.
