The UHBW hospitals are full of fundraising heroes who go above and beyond to raise extra funds for their wards and departments.

Recent fundraising from hospital staff includes Noby Paul from ICU, who embarked on an epic journey driving from England to India to raise funds for the BRI, and the team of Jr Doctors who organised a Consultants vs Jr Doctors rounders match, raising over £600 in support of Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity.

TEAM FUNDRAISING IDEAS

Fundraising with your colleagues is not only a great for team building, it’s great for your patients too. Here are some ideas to kickstart your fundraising, all things you can do as a team and in your ward/office.

EVENTS

Walking, running, cycling, swimming… bog snorkelling! Challenge yourself by taking on an event such as the Bristol 10k, Bristol Half Marathon or the Big Bristol Abseil. You can also create your own ‘virtual’ challenge by committing to a summer of Park Runs or to swimming 100 miles in a month.

Host a ward raffle

Ask a local business to donate some prizes, pick a draw date and then get selling your tickets. We can provide you with the raffle tickets, and we may even have some prizes to get you started!

It’s a piece of cake – and who doesn’t love cake?

Sweepstake

From sports competitions to reality shows – anything can be a sweepstake! Charge people £2 to take part, with half going to the winner and half to the charity.

Honesty box shop

Put together a little snack station in your staff room for your hardworking colleagues and ask for donations.

Step challenge

You’re probably not surprised to hear that nurses average almost 60,000 steps every week! Turn those paces into pounds by challenging your colleagues or another ward to see who can walk the most steps in a week. Charge people to take part, with half to the winner and half to the charity.

Collection tin

Collect loose change with a collection tin on the reception desk of your ward.

National Elf Service Day

Join our annual Christmas dress-up day on the first Thursday of December and go straight to the top of the list. It’s a great way to spread some festive cheer to your patients. Here are your colleagues elfing around on previous years. Check out our events page to request your elf day materials.

Whatever you come up with, we’ll be there to support you with materials, guidance on setting up an online fundraising page and, most importantly, loads of enthusiasm! "I love getting involved in the whole range of challenges the charity offers. My biggest love is the cake sale that I do at BHOC, we have a bit of a reputation for them now!
