What we do TOGETHER WE DO GREAT THINGS Our work at Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity touches everyone – from your first breath to your final goodbyes, and everyday in-between. Since 1974, we’ve stood proudly beside our University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). We’ve raised over £109 million to improve the health and happiness of every patient cared for by your ten hospitals in Bristol city centre, South Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare. Together with our supporters we do great things that go above and beyond to transform the experiences patients have in your hospitals, wherever the need is greatest. In turn those great things bring moments of joy, comfort and hope to those who need it most. That’s our extra mile for you and everyone who means the world to you. OUR STRATEGY Our strategy sets out our aspirations for patients, their families and the staff who treat them in the 10 hospitals we support as part of the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). Over the next five years, we have ambitious goals to raise £6 million for your hospitals and invest in the following key areas: Healthcare for all We know accessing healthcare isn’t as equal or as easy for some people and we want to change this. We’ll fund projects that enable access for people who experience barriers to treatment in your hospitals and ensure everyone has the best possible experience for their individual needs. older care Two thirds of our patients are over 65 years old. We want to transform older people’s experiences within your hospitals, supporting rehabilitation, reducing distress, tackling loneliness and improving engagement and wellbeing, particularly for those living with dementia. Healing environments With patients and family in mind, we transform your hospital spaces into calming environments, helping to lower anxiety, reduce stress levels and improve overall wellbeing. We also support the arts and culture programme and increase access to green spaces to create moments of joy. innovation for change Innovation is crucial for the future of healthcare. We fund pioneering research, new treatments, and cutting-edge technology to support the evolution of your NHS Trust in exciting and new ways and help your hospitals continue to deliver world-class care to you and your loved ones.
