Rachel cares for children living with cancer

My name is Rachel, and from day one of medical school, I’ve wanted to work with children.

In my 13 years at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, I’ve been aware of Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity's work with the Trust so I’m really looking forward to seeing how things progress in paediatric oncology.

I hope that together we can improve the experience for the children and families we look after. Many of them are with us for long periods. It’s not easy being away from home. By working together we can make that stay a bit more comfortable for patients. There’s lots of possible projects on the ward which need support and would be lovely for the children and their families.

Bristol is a city that pulls together. One in two of us will get cancer.

So by supporting the hospital, we’re giving a bit back to that kind of community spirit. I think it’s important. And the people of Bristol have what it takes to do this. I’m not originally from this city. But when I see the suspension bridge it makes me realise that I’ve come home.

By working together with Above & Beyond we can all make a difference to people’s lives.

We can show how much we care, by helping with a donation.

Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity supports all patients and services within University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. We make your donation go as far as possible by using it in the area of greatest need at your hospitals.
