Your donations have funded toddler tea parties at Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI).

Once a month, toddlers and their parents and carers visit the BRI for a tea party themed around a different children's books. Previous books have included Call Me Gorgeous by Giles Milton and How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers.

Alongside reading the book together, the children and the patients take part in themed activities. The sessions are run by Alive Activities.

The parties are the first of their kind to be done in an acute hospital setting and enrich the lives of both the children and the older people together.

Lucy Harrison, Matron for Enhanced Care, said: "Many of the older patients have prolonged stays in hospital which can  have negative impacts on their wellbeing due to a lack of social  interaction. This can lead to can lead to loneliness, lack of motivation, and  decline in mental and physical wellbeing including cognitive abilities.

"Many older adults now report having little contact with their own grandchildren due to families living further from each other, so they miss  out on these positive and important relationships with children who also benefit and learn from positive contact with older generations."
