SUPPORT SOUTH BRISTOL COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

South Bristol Community Hospital (SBCH) opened in 2012 to provide people in South Bristol with diagnostic tests and therapy services closer to their homes. It houses Bristol's first urgent care centre for minor illnesses and injuries, a day surgery and a rehabilitation service where people are able to stay as inpatients.

Did you know?

  • The purpose-built SBCH cost £45million to build
  • It costs £454 for a patient to be cared for as an in patient, per day at SBCH
  • Each year, around 32,000 patients are treated at SBCH
  • Hengrove Park was chosen as the location because it is the centrepiece for regeneration in South Bristol.

GREAT THINGS WE'VE funded

Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity provided £50,000 of funding to help create caring and supportive surroundings for patients, visitors and staff at South Bristol Community Hospital.  This included a therapeutic garden, children’s play area, a multi-faith quiet room and changing facilities for patients with disabilities, as well a £1.5m MRI scanner.

funded MRI SCANNER

A new £1.5 million 3T MRI scanner was funded for SBCH in February 2020.

It provides an opportunity to develop new and innovate ways of imaging in a relaxed outpatient environment, which means that some groups of patients can avoid the travel into Bristol city centre for scans.
