THE POWER OF MUSIC AND ARTS AT OUR HOSPITALS We fund live music in our hospitals which has been evidenced to help decrease anxiety, support social and physical activity, and combat loneliness. Music also offers a particularly powerful impact for patients with dementia. A visual artist-in-residence was funded for 12 months to encourage patients to be mentally active during their hospital stay, which can help speed up their recovery, reduce anxieties and alleviate boredom. Donations have helped fund a music teacher to offer musical experiences and music lessons for the long term children on the oncology, dialysis, surgical wards and for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
