Following a successful pilot in two wards at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, our period packs are now being rolled out to more wards and departments across the Trust including Weston General Hospital, Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre and the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

NHS staff at Weston General Hospital A&E department with period packs funded by BWHCPatients can scan a QR code on posters in the toilets or around the department and show staff the screen. They’ll then receive a pack filled with period products, underwear, tissues and other useful goods.

Emma-Louise Woods, Team Leader at the Emergency Department in Weston General Hospital, said: “Nine areas in Weston-super-Mare are among the most deprived in England. The Emergency Department sees many patients who are experiencing varying degrees of poverty and many are homeless. As such, some women that attend the ED are not equipped with appropriate sanitary products.

“Being able to provide this additional service and provision to patients will reduce the stress on staff and reduce any embarrassment that patients may feel.”

With your support, we can continue to fund the little things that make a big difference to patients across our hospitals.
