GIFTS THAT KEEP ON GIVING

Leaving a gift in your will means we’re able to continue our vital work today, tomorrow, and long into the future.

We are so grateful to our incredible supporters who generously leave gifts to our hospitals in their wills.  Kind-hearted supporters like Ray and Frances .

"The NHS has always been important to me. I have many friends and relatives who are doctors or nurses, and I was married to a nurse for 42 years. My daughter was born in the Bristol maternity hospital, the children’s hospital has treated my grandson, and I have recently attended Bristol Eye Hospital. Above all else my wife spent most of the last year of her life in the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC).

During that year I spent over 100 days as a visitor at BHOC and I met many NHS staff, as well as patients and visitors. I marvelled at the skills, care and dedication of the doctors and nurses, and I became aware of the needs of patients and their visitors.

It meant a lot to see how well my wife was looked after and the concern shown to me. I resolved to give something back when I was able.

I decided to leave a gift to the charity in my will so that I can keep making a difference after I'm gone.

It was a natural decision to choose Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity rather than a national charity. I've seen what great work the charity does, and therefore I'm sure the charity will use my gift wisely for the benefit of patients and staff in the hospitals. I'm confident any money gifted will be put to very good use. Please consider leaving a gift in your will to Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity."

Frances Cony

FRANCES CONY

Local artist and illustrator Frances Cony was one of our wonderful Golden Gift Appeal supporters. During her lifetime, Frances chose to fundraise for the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC), where she received her chemotherapy treatment. She spoke very highly of all the staff there, so wanted to give something back to them.

Before she passed away, Frances chose to leave two gifts in her will to the appeal, a £5,000 cash gift, and a percentage of her estate, totalling over £11,600. This tremendous gift will make a real difference to generations of patients to come.

Friends and family left donations in her memory as they wanted to give to a cause close to her heart. Speaking fondly of Frances, her brother Chris said:

She was a generous person, who experienced first-hand the difference that Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity makes in the hospitals. She is missed by many, not just her family.”
