24th April 2023

A team is taking on the 100km Jurassic Coast Challenge in memory of team member Jim’s niece, Sasha.

Sasha was treated at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) for a heart condition but sadly passed away during open heart surgery in April 2022.

Jim is joined by friends Richard, Aaron and Stewart to take on the challenge on 13th and 14th May.

He said: “The family are really struggling, especially as it’s very nearly a year ago. We’d like to raise some money so maybe the next person’s battle may not be in vain.

“I’m looking forward to the scenery and spending some time with my mates. One lives in Leeds so I only see him twice a year, if that. But I’m not looking forward to how my body will feel on the second morning!”

The team have done training walks across the Severn Bridge to Chepstow and up Pen y Fan in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). Together they’ve raised more than £1,500.

We can’t thank Jim and his friends enough for doing something great for our hospitals. Good luck with the walk!
