The charity is currently supporting Weston General Hospital emergency department to make needful decorative improvements to the mental health assessment room and the creation of a neurodiverse room. Creating a neurodiverse and inclusive environment in accident and emergency settings is crucial for providing effective, compassionate care to all patients. It will help to improve communication and understanding, reducing stress, anxiety and building trust and empathy." Emma's mum is also a nurse at UHBW NHS Trust and she has a message for her. "Thank you to you for being my inspiration for life and every day. Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who has taught me everything I know about life, love, and happiness and has shown me the way to be strong, kind, and compassionate. It’s such a special experience working together at the hospital. Sharing that space with you, seeing your incredible dedication and care for others - it’s something I admire deeply. It’s a unique bond that I treasure deeply. I learn so much from you, not just professionally, but also from the way you handle challenges with grace and wisdom." There sure is a whole lot of love going round this Mother's Day. If you'd also like to share a message for your mum, visit our celebration page and tell mum how much she means to you. LEAVE A MESSAGE TO YOUR MUM RUNS FOR MUMS These fundraisers have gone above and beyond to run for their mum and they are an inspiration to us all. THANKS FOR THE CARE MATT'S MUM RECEIVED On Sunday 21st April, Matt Burke ran the Shakespeare Marathon to say thanks for the care his mum Lorraine received at the Bristol Heart Institute. Lorraine had open heart surgery at the hospital after being diagnosed with Ebstein's Anomaly. "In all honesty, the whole team were amazing. From catering and cleaning to the nurse staff - they were all incredible. You've helped our family through the toughest thing we've faced. You do this every day without question and often without recognition. It's unbelievable. I can't really thank you enough."Read more tommy's run in memory of his mum "I ran the Bristol Half Marathon in memory of my beautiful mum and in return do some good for the community, and raised as much money as possible, specifically and selfishly for the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre, since we hold them close to heart. We had a rough start to the year, losing our mum to cancer. At the most difficult times the doctors, nurses and staff were all there for us, for the whole family. They made sure we had what we needed, kept us up to date on what's happening, and the most important thing was keeping mum comfortable and well looked after. It really made things easier, not just physically but also emotionally and mentally. So as a thank you, we are fundraised. In hopes that it can help the department help others. I want people to know how great you guys are!" Tommy's JustGiving page Ed, you are an Ironman "The loss of mum has been hard on all of us. My Mum and Dad were together for 43 years, my Dad is now lost without her, but taking each day as it comes.""I miss my mum terribly, even though weeks could go by without talking to her I knew she was always there. That is no longer the case and is difficult to get my head around."To say thanks for the care both his parents had at Bristol's hospitals, Ed Hodges took on a year of endurance challenges including a triathlon and Ironman.Read more about Ed's year of challenges here Manage Cookie Preferences
