THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

Weston General Hospital has a Mental Health Assessment Room for patients in mental health crisis that is, for safety reasons, very sparsely furnished. This room is used daily due to Weston Emergency Department supporting a high number of vulnerable patients suffering with mental health conditions.

However, the room was very clinical and cold, and the atmosphere within the room was neither comforting nor calming for these patients going through a very challenging time.

The wall previously was the same as the other walls, the room was bare and grey, and by the simple installation of this nature inspired artwork, the feel of the room has completely changed and hopefully will provide a space where patients experiencing mental health crisis feel safe, welcomed and calm which will result in a more holistic and engaged assessment.

This was a small project, but will make a big difference in helping to enhance the experience patients have at Weston General Hospital every single day.
