Funny Bones comedian line-up We're excited to announce the line-up for our sold-out comedy show Funny Bones with Russell Howard & Friends, 9th March 2025. Local legend Russell will be leading the laughter and bringing some mates along for the ride. This is going to be a cracker of show with a line-up that will leave you in stitches (not literally, but at least there'll be some doctors and nurses on hand!) THE LINE-UP Emma HuGhes An unhinged intensity that’s weirdly compelling… funny too! – Chortle Emma impressed the audience at the Rib Ticklers comedy show at The Gaffe and won the audience vote to perform at Funny Bones. Emma is equal parts silly and razor-sharp, Aussie born Emma's offbeat humour is as unpredictable as it is hilarious. A finalist in the Bristol Comedy Competition 2025, Emma is one of the most engaging and exciting new comedic fixtures in the South West. She’s gloriously odd, and you’re going to love every minute of it. CHELSEA BIRKBY A quirky, sophisticated and subversive comic… Whip-smart stuff. This is first-rate, purposeful comedy. Expect to cry with laughter. – Quintessential Review Chelsea performs her smart, silly and open-hearted stand-up at the UK's top comedy clubs and has taken two critically acclaimed and double-award-nominated solo stand-up shows to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, each getting 10 5, 4.5 and 4-star reviews. Known for combining smart and silly comedy, she’s a regular feature on best jokes of the fringe lists. She was a finalist and runner-up in several prestigious comedy competitions and has been tour support for Helen Bauer, Fern Brady, Sarah Keyworth and more! As seen on BBC, as heard on RHLSTP. Writer for Mock the Week. Toussaint Douglass There’s something of a Richard Ayoade vibe to Toussaint Douglass, stiffly awkward and on a different plane from rest of the world. He creates vivid, slightly absurd, images of his life…but it’s skillfully concealed beneath a charming quirkiness. One of the best and most distinctive acts. – Steve Bennet, Chortle Toussaint Douglass is one of comedy’s most exciting talents. Joyfully absurd and charmingly awkward, he has firmly established himself as both a writer and performer to look out for. His writing credits include Late Night Mash, Have I Got News For You, The Russell Howard Hour, Mock The Week, Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, The Now Show, Dead Ringers and James Acaster's Springleaf: A True(ish) Crime Podcast. Shalaka Kurup An impressive arsenal of cool, sardonic stand-up – Chortle Shalaka Kurup is an Indian stand up comedian and writer. Her observational humour has been described as deadpan joy. A doctor by education and a comedian by choice Shalaka has shot onto the UK circuit receiving numerous awards, winning West End New Act of the Year, runner up Brighton Komedia New Act of the year and a finalist Channel 4 Sean Lock Award. Performances include opening for Eshaan Akbar, Grace Campbell, Ria Lina, and was selected for Leicester Comedy Festival Circuit Breakers and Pleasance Reserve in 2023. She has starred on Comedy Central Live Season 3, Jokes Only A…Can Tell (Channel 4 Digital), Asian Network Comedy (BBC Asian Network), Arts Hour Comedy Special (BBC World Service) and Sunday Morning Live (BBC1).
