Who we are Your hospitals Bristol Dental Hospital SUPPORT BRISTOL DENTAL HOSPITAL The University of Bristol Dental Hospital (BDH) is a Centre of Excellence providing routine and specialist clinical dental services for the South West. The hospital acts as a teaching platform for dental undergraduate students at the University of Bristol which is one of the top dental schools in the UK. Students provide emergency treatment and a range of specialist services for patients, under supervision of nationally and internationally recognised consultants. Did you know? Each year, staff treat around 85,000 outpatients BDH has been training dental surgeons since 1906 1,849 patients had dental surgery in 2016 GREAT THINGS we've funded Nearly £63,000 to fund a pilot study for a new dental training programme for students Development of a training DVD for use by dental staff across the South West Attendance for students and staff to various training courses including National Dental Therapist Conference, European Congress of Dental & Maxillofacial Radiology and more. Cleft palate diagnostic models These diagnostic models gave been funded for the South West Cleft Service team based at Bristol Dental Hospital and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children to improve care for newborns. Find out more Study to improve access to dental services FOR SURVIVORS OF SEX ABUSE Adult survivors of child sex abuse have poorer oral health than the general population and face additional barriers accessing oral health care. The study goes above and beyond the curriculum requirements of teaching to arm students at Bristol Dental Hospital with better skills and to make dental services more inclusive and safe for all patients.
