Want to give back to your local hospitals?

Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity offers its corporate partners* the opportunity to volunteer in your city centre hospitals and make a real difference to older care patients.

The older care wards are often overlooked, with many patients spending weeks or months in hospital beds, some with little to no visitors or interaction with the outside world.

That’s where our corporate volunteers come in…

The team, supported by BWHC staff, nurses and therapy teams from the hospital, are able to spend a fun filled afternoon alongside older care patients. Expect cream teas, good conversation, games and, inevitably, a spontaneous singalong led by the patients!

As well as being an opportunity to make a difference to your local community, volunteering is also a fantastic benefit for companies, and gives staff the opportunity to deepen their connection to the charity and supports employee wellbeing, satisfaction and helps brings teams together.

*Please note: corporate volunteering days are currently only available to existing corporate partners - to find out more about all the benefits of a partnership with Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity, contact us today for an informal chat.

Bowmer and Kirkland volunteering at the afternoon tea party for older people at the Bristol Heart Institute

BOWMER + KIRKLAND PROVIDED A TEA PARTY FOR ELDERLY patients

A team from Bowmer + Kirkland volunteered their time and provided a cream tea party for elderly patients in the atrium of the Bristol Heart Institute. Patients and staff joined for activities, games and a singalong to boost patient morale and engagement. They also visited elderly care wards with cupcakes and tea for those who weren't physically able to join in person.

Who can take part?

Our wonderful corporate partners! Teams of up to 12 are able to participate in each corporate volunteering day.

When?

Any time that suits you! We’re able to accommodate most requests for a time and date that works for your company.

Where?

You can choose to volunteer in your Bristol city centre hospitals or at Weston General Hospital.

What?

An afternoon of cake, conversation and company.

“It was amazing to work with the NHS teams to deliver the afternoon tea event," said Bowmer + Kirkland. "It was great talking and taking part in activities with patients. Hearing their experiences and ending in an impromptu sing a long was fabulous. Our team of volunteers took a lot from the day.”

How OFTEN?

We ask that companies cover the costs of the volunteering day, this includes providing cupcakes and cream teas for patients and hospital staff.
