Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity and Deloitte Bristol are proud to have been shortlisted in the Short Term Partnership category at the Third Sector Business Charity Awards 2026 for our collaborative project, Transforming Hospital Education for Young People.

The nomination celebrates the difference the charity partnership has made for young people who spend long periods in hospital, helping them stay connected to their education in a more consistent and positive learning environment.

The original three-year charity partnership ran from 2022-2025 and, thanks to the huge success of the programme, has now been extended to 2028. Before the collaboration began in 2022, patients at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children typically received just one hour of face-to-face teaching a day. Since then, we have transformed the educational experience for more than 1,000 young people, delivering thousands of hours of additional specialist sessions across drama, music, singing and STEM subjects.

This has been possible thanks to the Deloitte Bristol team raising more than £128,000 in the first three years, through events including the Big Bristol Abseil, Bath Half, Great Bristol Run and the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge, as well as providing weekly volunteering support in the children’s hospital.

Elaine Gibson, Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships at Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for this national award. It really highlights what can be achieved when businesses work with charities, with a shared strategic vision and come together with a shared purpose. Working with Deloitte has helped us make a genuine difference to how young people access education while they’re receiving treatment – keeping them connected, engaged and supported at a time when it matters most.”

Adam Powell, Partner and Social Impact Lead at Deloitte Bristol, added:

“We are thrilled to see this charity partnership recognised. Working with Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity has been fantastic and has shown the real impact that we can have in our communities through focused, purpose driven collaboration.”

The Third Sector Business Charity Awards shine a light on individuals and organisations across the not-for-profit sector who make a difference, transform lives and empower communities.

The winners will be announced in London later this year. Fingers crossed!
